The DKI Jakarta Transportation Department (Dishub) will implement traffic engineering on several roads in connection with the visit of Pope Francis from September 3 to 6, 2024.
"Traffic engineering will be implemented situationally," said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department. He stated that Pope Francis is scheduled to visit the State Palace on September 4, 2024, from 09:00 WIB until completion.
He also mentioned that Pope Francis will depart from the Apostolic Nunciature (the Vatican Embassy in Jakarta) on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur to the State Palace on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara.

He will leave from the Apostolic Nunciature on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur to the Cathedral Church on Jalan Katedral," Syafrin said on Monday (2/9).He explained that Pope Francis will visit Istiqlal Mosque on September 5, 2024, at 08:30 WIB until completion. He will depart from the Apostolic Nunciature on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur to Istiqlal Mosque on Jalan Katedral.
Next, Syafrin continued, Pope Francis is scheduled to conduct a Grand Mass at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium. Pope Francis is expected to depart from the Apostolic Nunciature to Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. "Therefore, traffic engineering will be implemented situationally to support the visit of Pope Francis," he said. Here is the traffic engineering plan for Pope Francis' visit to the Cathedral Church on September 4, 2024, starting at 16:00 WIB, and the visit to Istiqlal Mosque on September 5, 2024, starting at 08:30 WIB:
a. Traffic from the South (HI Roundabout, Tanah Abang, Kebon Sirih, Budi Kemuliaan) to the East (Senen Station) can use Thamrin West side road - Medan Merdeka West side - Majapahit Street - Juanda Street - Post Street - Gunung Sahari Street - and so on;
b. Traffic from the East (Menteng) to the West (Tanah Abang) can use Hos Cokroaminoto Street - Wahid Hasyim Street - Mas Mansyur Street - and so on. During the Grand Mass at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on September 5, 2024, starting at 15:30 WIB until completion:
c. Traffic from the East (Tebet) to the West (Slipi) can use Kapten Tendean Street - Wolter Monginsidi Street - Trunojoyo Street - Kyai Maja Street - Kebayoran Baru Street - Pondok Indah Arterial Street - U-turn in front of Gandaria City - Teuku Nyak Arief Street - Tentara Pelajar Street - S Parman Street - and so on;
d. Traffic from the West (Slipi) to the East (Tebet) can use S Parman Street - Pejompongan Street - Penjernihan Street - RM Margono Street - Galunggung Street - Dr Saharjo Street - Prof Dr Soepomo Street - MT Haryono Street - and so on.
